This unusual, aromatic mixture will ease the stiffness, soothe the aches, and restore the senses at the end of a hard-working day. Epsom Salts offer trace elements very useful to the body as well as acting as a relaxant and reputed to draw toxins from the body. The ginger and galbanum (originally from Middle East but part of the British herbalists lexicon since the Middle Ages or before), work as analgaesics, relaxing and warming over-wrought muscles, and dealing with bruising and swellings. Wintergreen with its distinctive, pungent aroma, was traditionally used for all chronic forms of muscle and joint troubles such as rheumatism, lumbago and sciatica. Lavender helps with fatigue and calms frayed nerves. Rosemary, apart from being a useful antiseptic, revitalises. A simple blend that makes a good warm bath even more pleasurable and effective.
